Vacation Bible School - Crocodile Dock

Vacation Bible was a family affair as we spent the week in the Bayou at Crocodile Dock! It was a bunch of fun for all of us.

Building the VBS Bayou Shack

Angel bought the bayou shack supplies at Home Depot and managed to get them home without losing any! The security guards got quite a laugh when I came through the base gates.

David was thrilled to use the power tools to cut the shack into shape! Every helped and we were all covered in styrofoam pieces.

Painting was the most fun. Jacob liked sponge painting the best. I think I will put him to work next time we paint any walls in our house!

The final product was awesome to see in the sanctuary! The kids and adults thought the shack was cool!

It's summer fun at the swimming pool on base! No more school! No more homework!

Snake at the Baseball Game

Action stopped at Jonathan's baseball game when a bull snake decided to join in the fun. Apparently, the snake's home was near the fence. We found a hole for it. The snake wasn't poisonous. The umpire just picked up the snake and moved it to the bushes a couple hundred feet away. In the third inning, the snake returned! Such is a day in the life of a snake living in New Mexico!

Memorial Day 2009

We spent part of Memorial Day at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial in Albuquerque. It just seemed the right place to be on this Memorial Day. Jonathan and Jacob are old enough to understand what it means to give the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

I think they appreciate their Dad's 20 plus years of military service just a little more. I know I do.

Thank you, David, for your faithful service. Although it has not been an easy road for our family, I couldn't imagine another path. We are so very proud of you and all you do for our service members and their families.

The rose garden at the memorial is incredible. The bright red roses stand as beautiful symbols of the ultimate blood sacrifice.

Thank you to ALL of our veterans! We appreciate and honor you.

Comic Book Store Mural

Albuquerque has an amazing number of murals. This newly painted wall is on the side of a comic book store - Astro Zombies. Although we didn't go in the store, we parked the car and spent about 10 minutes looking at all the super heroes and villians.

Just a cool little site on this Memorial Day 2009!
