Amazing Day at the Zoo

We were privileged to get a "behind the scenes" tour of the Big Cats and Carnivores at the Rio Grande Zoo. The mom of one of Jacob's baseball teammates is a zookeeper there. She allowed us to see the cats close up and touch a few of the animals that were not on exhibit. It was an amazing day! More details will follow in the next post.

More Zoo Pictures

We actually went into the kangaroo exhibit. We fed the kangaroos bread and the boys got to feel the baby kangaroo in the mom's pouch. It was a day we will remember for a very long time.

Being this close to a lion was powerful. The lion roared and I had chills all over.

International Balloon Fiesta 2008

These pictures are just a few of the many we took at the 2008 Balloon Fiesta. We arrived before sunrise to experience the Dawn Patrol glow. It was amazing to be in the field as balloon pilots unloaded their gear, set up their balloons, and took off. There were character balloons including a cow, pink elephant, Darth Vader, Smokey the Bear, Nemo, Spiderman, and so many more. In all, we saw hundreds of balloons lift off in Saturday morning's mass ascension. What an incredible sight!

Will, Andrea & Rachel Visit

We had a great time with Will, Andrea and Rachel Walker. They spent the first weekend in October with us. Our home was filled with lots of laughter and fun. The most exciting moment of the trip was when Rachel said she was going to be a big sister. Congratulations, Will and Andrea! I can't wait to hold your new baby.

David & Will Play Golf at Paa-Ko Ridge

David and Will experienced a great round of golf at Albuquerque's Paa-Ko Ridge Golf in the eastern foothills of the Sandia Mountains. Golf is part of their tradition when the two get together!

Rio Grande Zoo

Jonathan, Jacob, Andrea, Rachel and I experienced the Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque. The animals were very active because of the cooler temperatures.

Dr. Bobby Smith's Visit/Sandia Tram

Dr. Bobby Smith is David's chaplaincy endorser from the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He came for a site visit. Dr. Smith, David and I took a trip up the Sandia Tram to see the beautiful views. The aspens were beginning to turn and the views were spectacular.

Petroglyph National Monument Hike

David, Jonathan and Jacob went on a hike at the Petroglyph National Monument. We are finding the high desert of the Albuquerque area to be a beautiful place.
