Memorial Day 2009

We spent part of Memorial Day at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial in Albuquerque. It just seemed the right place to be on this Memorial Day. Jonathan and Jacob are old enough to understand what it means to give the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

I think they appreciate their Dad's 20 plus years of military service just a little more. I know I do.

Thank you, David, for your faithful service. Although it has not been an easy road for our family, I couldn't imagine another path. We are so very proud of you and all you do for our service members and their families.

The rose garden at the memorial is incredible. The bright red roses stand as beautiful symbols of the ultimate blood sacrifice.

Thank you to ALL of our veterans! We appreciate and honor you.

Comic Book Store Mural

Albuquerque has an amazing number of murals. This newly painted wall is on the side of a comic book store - Astro Zombies. Although we didn't go in the store, we parked the car and spent about 10 minutes looking at all the super heroes and villians.

Just a cool little site on this Memorial Day 2009!

PWOCI Vision Week

Angel attended Protestant Women of the Chapel's Vision Week for the International Board April 19-24 in Colorado Springs. We stayed at Glen Eyrie Castle.

It was a week full of filling up so we could leave ready to serve. I enjoyed spending time with my sisters in Christ. What a great group of ladies!!!

Baseball's Opening Ceremony

Major League Baseball is back and so is Little League! Jonathan and Jacob are participating in Albuquerque's Mile High Little League. Jonathan is playing on the Junior Division Cubs and Jacob is a Major Division Cardinal. Don't worry about calling us at home. We won't be there! Just call us on our cell phones since we will likely be at the ballpark!

Jacob Shines in Nic at Night!

Jacob did a terrific job in his school musical, Nic at Night. It was the based on the story of Nicodemus, the Pharisee who came to Jesus during the night to listen to His teachings. He has the drama gift!!!

The musical is over and Jacob can finally relax!
Can we get some ice cream now, Mom?!?

Jonathan is a TEENAGER!!!

Jonathan turned 13 today! I can't believe it. Oh, the memories that flood back of that day he arrived a month before we were planning!

My heart was filled with emotion as Jonathan asked for a purity ring a couple of months ago. This is a picture of him as he excitedly put it on this morning. Pray that he will be strong in his commitment.
Jonathan and Jacob share a brotherly hug before school!

Jacob's Arrow of Light and Crossover Ceremony

Jacob reached a big milestone by earning his Arrow of Light award, the highest award in Cub Scouting. It was a big night for him as he bridged up from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Jacob also accomplished something not many boys earning the Arrow of Light do. He earned all 20 Webelos Activity Pins. For those who are experienced scouters, you know this is not easy to accomplish. I guess he wanted to be just like his big brother!!!

The Arrow of Light award that you see Jacob holding was made by his previous den leader from Texas, Jo Tye. Knowing Jacob would earn this award, Jo gave us this award to give to Jacob when he completed the requirements. It was very special to him.

The most emotional part of the ceremony (for Mom anyway!) was when Jonathan welcomed Jacob into Boy Scouts after Jacob crossed the bridge. Jonathan placed the Boy Scout neckerchief around Jacob's neck. I couldn't hold back the tears.

Thanks to my friend, Lisa Wilson, for taking all these great pictures.
